Saturday Run

-
When: 9:50 am for a 10 am start
-
Meet at: Longford Park Car Park, M21 9LF (outside Trafford AC stadium)
-
What: Mixed-terrain social run
-
Distances we run (approx.): 5K, 8K, 10.5K (varies according to exact route, see below)
Where do we run?
On Saturdays, we set off from just outside Trafford AC's stadium in Longford Park and head down to the nature reserve area by the River Mersey. We alternate between two routes heading to either Chorlton or Sale Water Park, plus shortened versions around 5 and 8 km in distance:
-
Sale Water Park Route (plus 5K and 8K options)
-
Chorlton Water Park Route (plus 5K and 8K options)

How accessible are the routes?
Both routes are multi-terrain and largely off-road, and include a mix of light trails and paved surfaces. Regular road running trainers should suffice, but since the routes can get muddy following wetter weather, old shoes may be recommended! Visibility is good and the runs are in good light conditions. You can view our risk assessment of the routes here.
What if I’m new?
We operate a buddy system, where established members run with newcomers at their pace. We let you come to a few initial runs for free to see if we’re the right club for you, but if you want to run with us regularly, we request that you consider joining us as a paid member. Click here to learn more.

How do I get there?
Longford Park is easily accessible by public transport, being around a 15 minute walk from Stretford, Chorlton and Old Trafford tram stops. Naturally, there are also parking spaces that are available in the car park where we meet. For the location on the map, please scroll down below.

Where can I get changed or store bags?
There are showers and changing facilities at Trafford AC’s track in the park. These are available to use for £2, but these are not always guaranteed to be open, particularly during autumn and winter. For that reason, it may be a good idea to come dressed ready to run. Needless to say, we also use car boots to store items in during the run, and there will usually be someone who will let you use their car boot if you don’t drive.
Do we go anywhere after?
A number of us head for brunch in nearby Chorlton after the run, with regular venues including The Lead Station and Mary and Archie's. You may even find us partaking in an Espresso Martini! Please let us know by Friday lunchtime via the Spond event if you plan to join us.

And if you’re looking for a bit extra running fun beforehand, Stretford Parkrun starts at 9 am at the same location, allowing you to either do an extra 5 km run or a spot of volunteering to give back to the running community.
